A Hope For Children

Thanks to organizations like AHOPE there is hope for the children. Founded in 1997 AHOPE for children was formed to help children in Africa orphaned by AIDS. The organization provides education, homes and care for HIV positive orphans in Ethiopia. A recent report issued by the United Nations found that there were over 14 million children under the age of 16 worldwide who have been orphaned by AIDS. There are an estimated 1,000,000 orphans in Ethiopia alone many of whom are affected with the HIV virus themselves. Unfortunately these numbers are expected to double in the next five years.

Currently AHOPE operates two children’s homes in Ethiopia where the children also receive schooling on the premises. There is a high adult child ratio in the homes to ensure that each child gets the love and attention that they need.
